A Trip Through the Congo

This incredible audio series recently aired on National Public Radio about a river journey through the Congo Basin, one of the Family of Five—the Earth’s last five large blocks of unfragmented forest, of which Canada’s Boreal is one of the largest. Although river transportation is no longer as vital in Canada’s Boreal as it still is in the Congo, there are still many communities in Canada’s Mackenzie Basin that receive goods via barges as do many coastal communities in Canada’s North.
