A Lost Cause

January 9, 2006 | Dr. Jeff Wells

Cincinnati was not good to me.

Well, not good to my little Boreal bird travel game at least.

As we landed in the darkening skies, I saw four Red-tailed Hawks each sitting on the ground in its own little patch of between-the-runway grass.

Interesting to see actually but not really Boreal birds.

And so my ill-concieved game came to an end as I scanned the skies while eating a sandwich and waiting for the night flight to Seattle.

My official total was 4 Boreal birds.........wait a minute, I forgot to add in the Northern Shrike. Make that a whopping 5 Boreal birds.

Tomorrow will be a new day, a new game! How many Boreals can I see in Seattle?
