Boreal BirdsBoreal Birds Featured on National Geographic's Wild Chronicles Tonight or This Week on PBS (Airing Schedule Varies by City)

If you’ve never been to Canada’s Boreal Forest, here’s your chance to fly over acres and acres of majestic trees, mountains, rivers and lakes. Watch as flocks of waterfowl fly north for the summer, listen to migratory calls from the night sky, and see how a Saw-whet Owl likes having his head scratched before a bander releases him back into the wild.

National Geographic’s Wild Chronicles, airing on PBS affiliates across the country, explores the Boreal Forest in its role as the great Bird Nursery of the North. Conservationists, including our own Dr. Jeff Wells, explain how billions of birds migrate to and from the Boreal every year. As Dr. Wells says, “It’s one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth.”

In most cities, Wild Chronicles airs this evening (Wednesday, February 20) on PBS. (Some cities will find it later this week, and showtimes vary across the country.) It’s an exceptional chance to get a sense of this vast ecological treasure and take an intimate look at its avian inhabitants. Find out if and when the show airs on your local PBS station, mark your calendars, and tell your friends!
