Watch this interesting video about what Greenpeace Canada is doing to protect the Boreal Forest in Quebec and Ontario. Abitibi-Bowater, Canada's largest paper producer, has consistently refused to adopt sustainable forest practices and continues to log pristine, virgin forests in the Boreal.

The Boreal Forest is becoming quite a movie star! Our favorite recent example is a song and music video about the Boreal Forest created by a group of Ontario 11th-graders for a science class. Check out George Woodhouse and the EcoGangstas performing their hit song, "Boreal Beat."

Recently, the Boreal Forest was featured as an evening news bulletin on London's ITV News. The bulletin explores the topic of Canada's Alberta Tar Sands.

The video below – created by noted journalist Gary Strieker for Assignment Earth – connects the link between the proposed Mackenzie Gas Pipeline and the Alberta Tar Sands, illuminating some of the numerous threats these projects pose for wildlife and First Nations communities. It also highlights the dirty extraction process of the Tar Sands, which releases far more carbon emissions than standard refining techniques.
