Your Involvement Can Help the Boreal Forest

Canada's Boreal Forest is one of the greatest ecological gems left on the planet. Billions of birds depend upon the unspoiled wilderness of the Boreal to breed each year. The Boreal is also home to the largest populations of caribou, wolves, and grizzly bears on the continent. Unfortunately, the forest is coming under increasing pressures that threaten its viability as a fully-functioning ecosystem.

Some U.S. companies are exploiting the forest at an unsustainable rate. These companies are turning the Boreal Forest into tissue paper, junk mail, and catalogs. Unchecked development is pushing further north, fragmenting and decimating tracts of pristine wilderness. Nearly 90% percent of Canadians favor protecting more of the forest, but the Canadian government currently protects less than ten percent of the Boreal.

We each have a role to play in ensuring the Boreal Forest remains a haven for birds and other wildlife. You can take action by contacting the Canadian government or companies with controversial practices to express your concern about the Boreal. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date on news about the Boreal Forest. And please make a tax-deductible contribution to BSI to help us continue to educate Americans about the importance of the Boreal forest.

The Boreal Forest represents the greatest conservation opportunity left on Earth. Help us make this vision a reality today.
